: The location was great, and there was plenty of space for the four of us to spread out. The space in general was clean and tidy when we arrived; the dishes, towels, and bedding were clean (except in one case: see below); and the kitchen was well stocked and functional. The beds were reasonably comfortable and there was plenty of space to put clothes and belongings. We made much use of the washing machine (though heads up: there is no dryer in the unit) and there was plenty of detergent, soap, shampoo, etc. available. We loved being so close to markets, shops, and restaurants as well as downtown, night life, historic areas, etc. The bus and the light rail are very accessible from this location as well, and easy to use even for new visitors to the city -- make liberal use of edinburghtrams.com to get around Edinburgh.
: A few things could have been better: 1) The location of the key collection was accessible but dark at night and a little unnerving as the cellar door was swung wide open and I wasn't sure if there was anyone in there. 2) The bedding on the pull-out couch was filthy, which was unfortunate because one of us would have preferred to sleep there than in the smaller bed in the bedroom. 3) We could not find parking on Gayfield Square (nor even a space to pull over and unload our bags) and ended up booking a private space with yourparkingspace.co.uk - highly recommended future visitors book a parking space ahead of time so you don't drive around the city endlessly looking for one.

: Street noise and reduced privacy, but hey it was a city location.
